Last Flight day today

Well, last day flying in the War Zone for awhile. I have not decided if I will return after my hike or not. I am so ready to leave. I fly from Kabul 25 Feb. and arrive in Atlanta around noon Friday 26 feb. I will take Saturday to get my gear together and The Sundance Kid (My Son) and I will leave Sunday for the AT. We plan to spend the night on Springer and leave Mar. 1st hiking north. I have no schedule and will just have fun getting in shape and playing in the snow. I have a couple of new gear items to try and will decide which to take to Campo.I have been in contact with an ole AT hiker bud living in Ca. and She has offered to help me with the PCT this year. Hippie has thousands of trail miles and is a blast to hike with. She is also a true Trail Angel and gives so much to the hikers around her. It will be great to see and hike with her again.

I have all my permits but must send my Passport for renewal and besides there are no more pages open for visa or stamps. I can track so many of my adventures from those pages, it's like looking at a 10 year journal. Several people have emailed me or signed my guestbook on trailjournals and I thank all of you. I feel a part of the 2010 class already and I am really impressed with so many of the members. There is no way I can keep up with most of them but I guess that will help me meet more of the class.

I have tied my Spot to this journal and will have it with me on the AT. The track will show up just on the other side of the country from the PCT. I managed to get the Sundance Kid to test it from my home base by means of a Skype call from a tent in the middle of the Afghan desert. It's a modern world of communication anymore.I will probably update from the AT somewhere north of Hot Springs. Hey Hiker friends let's go hiking or see you at the Kickoff. See Ya uptrail.
