Ponchos
Today was a wet and wild day in Northern England. Perfect for an afternoon with the rucksacks and ponchos. We hiked out the village and along a disused railway line. My foot began a blister and so we stopped at a shelter and I applied a piece of gel. My new weapon of choice for blisters is gel patches that are for electordes on TENS machines. Bister sorted we carried on our way. Feet happy again.
Wearing Decathlon ponchos that just about covered me from head to ankle as Im not very tall. Came home after 6 miles and was still dry, except around my neck. Pretty O.K. I cant see the weather being any worse than gale force winds in the face which we had for our walk today. The only other time I wore a poncho was over my waterproofs in NZ on the TA. It was one of the bright orange emergency jobs and only really came t my elbows and hips. but covered my ppackafter my pack covr blew away on 90 mile beach.
Also today changed shoes, The Topo Adventure is not really volumous enough to take my orthotics and an ankle brace. So back to the Hokka One One that I finished the TA in. They have a few more miles in, though look worse for wear.
