Into The Wild

Let the fun begin. The climb up Forester was exactly what I remember; steep and rocky. I got going around 8am this morning and the first 2 miles where a gradual climb. I can't get over on how little snow there is this year. I made my way up the rocky switchbacks, and as I climbed up higher in elevation, I found it harder to breathe. i guess that's what you get for being over 11,000 feet. I reached the Pass by 10am. I took a few pictures, rested a bit and got going down the pass. I'm hoping to get Glen Pass done today as well. To get two passes done in one day in the Sierras, to me is quite the accomplishment.
The trail made it's way down King's Canyon and through a forested area and then straight back up. I reached the Kearsarge Pass junction fairly early. Hikers that need to resupply from Bishop head over Kearsarge. I have enough food to get me to at least Vermillion Valley Resort.
I continued to head north and up over Glen Pass. Glen Pass is one of the scariest passes to descend from. It's North Face is covered with snow and ice and the drop is straight down. As I carefully made my way down the icy slope, I started to think how lucky I am to get to experience this again. This time, I was by myself and was able to take it in a lot more than in 2011.
I got down to Rae Lakes and found a spot next to Luckyman and set up camp for the day.
Awe.......It's great to be alive!
