Colorado Trail Map

Journal Entry

The Colorado Trail is done!!! Today, I hiked from my spot at mile 454, and finished the ridgeline trek over to Kinnebec Trailhead. The descent down into Durango took me all day, and 34 miles of walking, but I made it to town just before 9 this evening. Nothing like finishing a big hike in the dark!

A solo celebration dinner at the Mexican restaurant, followed by a long soak in the tub have made me a very happy camper tonight.

The CT is an incredible trail, and I'm so glad I did it. I'm also glad I finished when I did - I've been passing north bounders that are just starting their trail the last few days, and can't imagine how cold they'll be in a week or two. Personally, the PCT will probably always be my favorite, but this trail is a very, very close second for me.

For now, I'm heading home to Canon City for a few weeks at home, then we'll see. I don't have to be back at work until the new year, so may tackle another trail before I head back to Texas.

The CT is amazing - of you're thinking of doing it, stop thinking, make your plans, and get going. Life is too short to wait for good things to happen.
