Journal Entry
Hello and welcome to my hiking blog for 2020. When I last posted (see last entry for CDT 2019 - Link at bottom of this page) I had just been diagnosed with multiple fractures of my right shoulder after 2 falls and dislocations on the trail. I was trying physical therapy rehab of my shoulder to avoid surgery, After 6 weeks of PT, my Ortho doc said I was recovering so well that surgery was not indicated. So I am back to normal. (Or as normal as anyone that likes to hike thousands of miles can be.:^)
.
Now that 2020 is here, I have been contemplating my trekking itinerary for the year. I have about 400 miles of the CDT to finish. Three hundred between Lima (like the bean), MT and Anaconda, MT and another 100 through Glacier National Park. Right now, my plan is to do these sections starting about Aug 10th. It should take me roughly three to four weeks of walking with a couple of rest days included.
.
Since I am not getting any younger and I would like to hike the Appalachian Trail (AT), too, I am thinking of doing a couple hundred miles of it in July. I am told that the last 200 miles to the northern terminus of the AT is the most demanding so I am looking at that as a worthy goal. I have not really explored much info on the AT so I am very tentative at this point, but those are my thoughts on this summer’s hikes.
