Journal Entry

The bright sunshine of an unobstructed sunrise woke me this morning. It got chilly last night and it took me a while to get up and going. I got out of the hammock @ 7:15 and was on the trail by 8. The terrain continues to be a lot of ridge running. a little over 4 miles down the trail I took a break on Glastenbury Mtn. And climbed to the top of the fire tower were I got an excellent view. Then down the other side to Hells Hollow Creek and up to another ridge to climb down to VT 9. Then up a steep section that reminded me of Maine and an easy ridge walk to tonight's shelter. I stopped at the high point of today's last ridge and spent a while watching the sun set over Bennington, VT. It was about 6:30 when I arrived at camp, one of the shortest days hour wise in a long time. For supper I had Vegetable beef soup. I'm going to read a little then hit the sack.

Steven's 2009 AT Thruhike

Psalms 121
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not permit thy foot to be moved; He that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper; the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil; He shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
