Continental Divide Trail Map

2nd Chunk of the 2nd Thru

It's time to hike the Idaho/Montana section of the CDT. That's about 900 miles. For the first time since 1997 I am setting out to hike a long trail with a partner! Yes. I know I hiked 1,500 miles of the PCT with Galahad back in 2008, but that was not planned. This time I invited 4 of my GHS technical crew kids who had gone on multiple hikes with me in the White Mountains of New Hampshire to join me on this hike. Since the idea was to avoid snow to wome degree, the hike would be during the school summer vacation making it possible for them to join. As it turned out, though they all wanted to, only one could make it work. That would be Troy, AKA Laddy Long Legs. He has a journal on Postholer too.

His mom, Patricia, took us to the Manchester Airport to catch a 5:30am flight. By 9:30am Mountain time we were in Denver Colorado. Troys aunt and uncle, Abby & Mike, picked us up. We drove till past 7pm to Driggs, Idaho through exquisit landscapes. Then it was pizza and sleep.

We should be on the trail by early afternoon on 6/26/2015. We are starting in Targhee Pass on US-20 just west of West Yellowstone.

Woo hooo!
