A plan for the final chunk
Today I got an airline ticket to Salt Lake City and a bus ticket from there to Rawlins, Wyoming. This will be the third and hopefully final chunk of my second hike of the Continental Divide Trail. The plan is to set foot on the trail on July 14th southbound out of Rawlins reaching Combres Pass near the Colorado/New Mexico border about 6 or 7 weeks later. That's about 840 miles. Wooo hooo!. I can't wait.
To add to the excitement, a friend and fellow hiker of many years, Alex Barunas, will be joining me for the first leg of the hike to Rabit Ears Pass, about 170 miles, near Steamboat Springs, CO. Alex and I along with Graham Dowie had a grand adventure of 2 weeks in the Wind River Range in August of 2002. We have hiked in various combinations here in New Hampsire's White Mountains prior and since. Alex has got designs on some future thru-hiking and this will be a sort of shaked down for him. This will be fun.
