Continental Divide Trail Map

Get'n Ready One More Time

It's time to hike the Continental Divide Trail again! The plan is to thru hike the entire trail in one go this time for a change. Tomorrow morning Alex B, a friend and hiking partner since around 1990, drops me off at the Bus Stop in Tilton. The bus takes me to Logan Airport in Boston, MA. From there a flight takes me to Tucson, AZ. Then a friend, Bob B, whom I met in the early 80's will pick me up. I'll spend a couple of nights with him and his family. Next an Amtrak Train takes me to Lordsbutg, NM. On the 30th, a shuttle, run by the Continental Divide Trail Coalition (CDTC), will drop me at the border with Mexico at Crazycook after a rugged adventure across the desert. Then the fun begins, a back packing trip of about 3,000 miles over 4 months. Then back to New Hampshire in September. That is all contigent on health & natures whims.

I am psyched (not cyc'ed).

There have been several hikes to get a bit in shape over the last few weeks. A couple of days ago Alex B & I were on a 6 hour excursion in the Belknap Range, litteraly across the street from his home. Still these are rugged mountains. So far, there are still no leaves on the trees in this part of NH and north. It was a great though cool day.

The day before, Dan M and I were hiking up in the White Mountain National Forest here in NH. We started on wet grousd but after 20 minutes we were on ice and soon snow. Up on the ridges and peaks there were several feet of snow and lots of postholing! It was even snowing at times. Back home, an hour south, it was mostly sunny.

Woo hoo!
