Just North of Jacob Lake to Utah Border
766.6 to 788.7 for 22.1 miles
It was a much warmer night, so I slept much better. I started at 5:30 am because I knew Larry would be early to the Trailhead. The tread was good and mostly flat for the first several miles. I made 13.5 miles by 10am. I was motivated to get to Utah!
The trail then started to descend into the valleys between small bluffs, so there was a little climbing. With about four miles to go, I ran into Joel taking a break. I went on eating some snacks as I walked. The last few miles revealed a large valley with the trailhead below and the cliffs of Utah in the distance. This was a more dramatic finish than I anticipated. In the last few hundred yards, Larry cane walking up the trail. It was so great to see him! We walked to the finish together, took some pictures, and had a celebratory beer! Minutes later, Joel came down the trail and we celebrated some more!
We then went down to Wire Pass Trailhead and hiked some slot canyons that were very impressive. I regret I didn't take my camera!
We then drove to Page for some town food and a good nights rest!
