The long anticipated return to hiking.

Wow, long time since I last updated this journal. So it goes. But all's well that ends well right? As you may or may not know, I did not complete the Pacific Crest Trail last year ('11). People sometimes ask, "Are you disappointed?" "No, not in the least. I spent 6 months living mostly in the woods with people I truly wished to be around." Then I have to go on to all the sights I saw between Mexico and the Columbia River: the Salton Sea, Kennedy Meadows, the High Sierras, Lake Tahoe, Mt. Shasta, then 200 more miles of Mt. Shasta, Crater Lake, the Three Sisters, Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Hood, and Eagle Creek just to name a few.

Ever since I crossed the Bridge of the Gods and stepped off the trail on November 5th (if memory serves me right), I've dedicated myself to making it back to finish. That will come in August. For now, I'm planning to thru-hike the Superior Hiking Trail (www.SHTA.org) in Northern Minnesota, where I've spent the winter saving money and daydreaming about living in the woods again.

I'll be sure to keep you posted.

Also, Pinky and I are having a contest to see who can spend the most nights outside this year. Below is our score:

Pinky: 10
X: 4
