May 16 to 29 - Day 34 to 47

NOTE: I'm writing this long after the fact (December 2017) We grew tired of updating it and forgot about the journal upon picking the trail back up in Flagstaff after a few days hiatus.

I remember it was a cold and very rainy day as we left Flagstaff and we would have one more day of precipitation ahead (upon leaving the Grand Canyon North Rim we had quite the snow shower). We had a pretty quick and easy time for the remainder of the journey north from Flagstaff. Lots of good terrain for just simply cruising. We took several days to explore the Grand Canyon and both of us picked up books which we finished when we took a random zero day near Jacob Lake (it was a gorgeous day). Our last night on the trail we ran across a younger gentleman (about our age - mid to late 20's), sadly I can't remember his name, who was driving out to CA via back roads and out of the way places and so we camped with him that last night and had a fire, beers and traded stories and laughs until rather late. We crossed paths that last morning with 'No Butt' and and 'Yeah, But' and hiked on out to the State Line Campground with them (and they kindly gave us a ride into Page). I had crossed paths with these two thru hikers in the desert between Oracle and Superior a month or more earlier and didn't think we would cross paths again (as it turns out they had to leave the trail for a few days too for a wedding if I remember correctly).

Overall the AZT was an AMAZING trail and experience (even if I probably won't keep a trail journal like this again) :-). Lots of interesting people and places and immense variety in landscapes. Thank you AZT and those along the way!
