TWO DAY SPRING BREAK PREPARATION HIKE

Well, after preparing for the App. Trail for the last 3 months I have decided to take a little prehike to see where I am at in terms of equipment and conditioning. Not really sure whick one concerns me the most! I am taking my 11 year old daughter with me on this hike. She was not very enthusiastic in the beginning but has perked up lately. I believe this is either because her Mother had a talk with her OR because she now sees the inevitability of it and has decided to make lemonaid! She is a smart 11 year old.

Well, anyway we spent all last night finalizing our packing list, weighing, packing and planning. Today we should be able to just take care of the food mapquest the directions and print the hiking map.

The trail we are hiking is the Cedar Bayou Trail. It is a 14 mile straight line trail that follows Lake Texhoma. Part of it is right down at the lake level and part of it is on a rocky ledge much higher up. There are supposed to be many trees in the area and a lot of people from the Dallas area use it on the weekends. Hopefully it won't be too crowded. There are a couple of improved campgrounds on the way and also some "wilderness" camping areas. Should be a nice tame hike with some pretty scenery. Should be enjoyable for both of us. And all less than an hour from the house!
