Pacific Crest Trail Map

General Entry For 2016 Sections

Here is information about my 2016 efforts on hiking the PCT.

2014
On April 18, 2014 I started a long hike on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) which is 2663+ miles long. After 16 days and 207 miles I came off the trail at Palm Springs for family reasons. On July 30, 2014, I caught a train up to Cascade Locks, Oregon to resume some PCT hiking. I made it to Manning Park, BC, Canada on September 8th.

2015
On March 25th, 2015 I caught a train to Palm Springs to continue my PCT hike. I hiked up to I15 at Cajon Pass, about 135 miles North. I decided to take a week off due to an impending snow storm. On April 12th I returned and hiked another 102 miles to Acton, California. I decided to take another break due to serious hay fever and a sore knee. I had hoped to return to the trail within a week but that was not to be. Before I could return to the trail I had a vertigo attack which lasted for weeks. I returned to the PCT trail at Dunsmuir in Northern California on August 4th. I hiked another 218 miles to Ashland, Oregon. Having walked all these miles in smoke filled mountains and with too much smoke likely the rest of the way through Oregon, I returned home for the year.

2016
On April 1, 2016 I started at Acton hiking to Walker Basin. I then did my first Southbound section hiking from Kennedy Meadows back to Walker Basin finishing the desert sections on April 21, 2016. I took a five day break during this due to storms. From June 16, 2016 to July 26, 2016 I hiked Southbound from Dunsmuir to Truckee.

More miles planned including Truckee to South Lake Tahoe, and Cascade Locks to Ashland.
