more planning
I wonder who actually spends more time planning: the section hiker or the the thru hiker. It seems I spend a lot of my time as a section hiker, just trying to figure out how to get to and from the trail. It doesn't help that I have gotten off the trail at odd places. Last year I got off at I-15 near cajon pass due to injuries that were slowing me down and a ticking clock. I will still need to go back and hike the San Jacinto/Fuller ridge section and the section from Sonora pass to Ebbets pass. as well. I think that's one advantage the AT has over the PCT. in fact, I've thought about doing a section of the AT instead. Aside from the cross country flight, getting to the trail is a relative breeze as are resupplies, etc..
Returning To The Trail
The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is a 2,650-mile national scenic trail that runs from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington. The PCT traverses 24 national forests, 37 wilderness areas and 7 national parks. The PCT passes through 6 out of 7 of North Americas ecozones. Learn more: www.pcta.org
