We started are 2day 4 hour bus ride at 7:15 Wednesday May 16, 2012. All in all the Greyhound bus trip was an fair experience. Kevin and I got spoiled by sitting in the large seats the first few long trips before transfers, but the entire time from El Paso to Los Angeles we were squeezed together in the bus like sardines. Alltgough the last stretch of the bus ride out here was fair, when we arrived in Los Angeles we had a positively amazing time. The train systems make it incredibly easy to travel all over the metropolitan area and busses make it possible to get to your final destination.
I met Sean through couch surfing.com, which I will highly recommend to my young traveling readers, and we ararived at his welcoming apartment at Long Beach and compleatly adored the location and the pad. He showed us around Long beach and took us to this amazing restaurant only found in Long Beach, CA. It is called Holey Moley, they serve a variety to Mexican dishes and have an amazing fish taco which is my personal favorite.
We woke up on Saturday, easily walked to the Metro rail station and made our way to Hollywood
, CA. This place is absolutely beautiful. The walk of fame was simply amazing because we were placing our steps on marks in pop culture history and cultivaing great, solid, and memorable experience, which will last a lifetime. We then took a long hike up to Griffith Observatory, which turned out to be literally astronomical. The facility was beautiful with fine painted murals on the ceiling of the dome. From there a wire hang from the center, which hold a massive ball which becomes a pendulum. The walk was totally worth it and was another great experience.
we then made our way to Venice Beach where we watched to sun set on Sun Set Strip. WThere were many interesting and amazing people among the crowed and I only saw a few individuals who seemed unwelcoming.
Finally we walked back to the Metro line and headed back to Sean's. On the way all we could think of was pizza, and thankfully Sean and his roommate knew of a fantastic pizza place to was open at late hours. We feasted on great pizza from their recommended location, named Big E Pizza, which consequently was delicious.
Now we hang out tonight resting and preparing for our journey to Big Bear, where we whawill begin our projectwhat ed 1000 mile hike on what could be the most amazing, beautiful long distance trail in the US or even the world, the Pacific Crest Trail.
