On to Wrightwood

Had to pee last night around 9pm. Wow, the entire plateau is lit up & the lights from traffic look like snakes of light going up & down the hillside. We are up early but don't get on the trail until 8:30. Packs are light today! Only 1.5 liters of water & our food bags are nearly empty. We have 14.4 miles to hike, mostly uphill again. The last few miles are all downhill into town via a side trail. The views are spectacular again. When we hit our high point we can see seemingly forever out towards the dessert. About 3.8 miles before the acorn trail cutoff we come across a hiker, 'Lion' who has stopped to rest in a sort of awkward place on the trail. We stop to ask if she is ok & she says she is dizzy. Kevin offers her some water even though we are both almost out & we stay with her a while until she says she's feeling better. We offer to help her further but she insists she is ok so we finally move on. At the junction of the acorn trail we meet a group of mountain bikers & chat for a while before starting down to town. They are really nice & actually rode their bikes down after us. The trail was steep, all switchbacks, but overall not bad. We made the 2.7 miles in record time. The trail dumped out to a residential street. As we're walking along we pass a woman who is tending her garden & she asks us where we're from. After some conversation she asks us if we'd like a ride into town. Of course we said yes & as we were getting into her car another couple walked by, so we all piled in and enjoyed a 1.5 mile drive to the hardware store to pick up our resupply boxes. The folks at mountain hardware were really nice. We then walked to our motel just 2 blocks away to check in. Then a quick trip to the market for supplies. After showering we go in search of the Mexican restaurant that has 5 cent margaritas. Yes we found it! Dinner was great. Back to the motel for a nightcap & some down time.
