walking through the clouds

waking in the clouds and hotdog day

Awoke to white, bolder land in the clouds, spooky. Breaking down camp was hard because it was so cold, everything was wet. Got everything put away but no hot drinks this morning, we decided to walk to Mike Herrera's place and make our coffee there while refiling with water. Mike Herrera is a trail angel who has a house right off the trail and has a water tank which he lets hikers refil from.

We thought we were only 3 miles away so we started fast. Pushing through the cold wet white clouds, hoping for a break but getting none. All I can say is spooky. The clouds poring over trees and mountians, really trippy. Finally after about two hours of cold hiking the sun broke through, and let the world be warm.

The road we were looking for was called Chihuahua Valley, a dirt road that the trail crosses. As the clouds parted we say the road and the house. We walked as fast as we could down the mountian and then the road and finally made it to the water tank.

We did not see any vehicals at the house which made me sad because Mike Herrera had answered me a couple of times on the PCT-L and he seemed like a really nice guy, I wanted to meet him. Oh well, I did enjoy some of the water out of the tank and some carrots and bananas. We enjoyed our coffee and signed the guessed book and where back on the trail.

We hike another 10 miles through the desert and found a place to camp. The storm was over so I was excited to have a dry place to camp. Also there was a beautiful sunset that night.
