Father's Day at Kennedy Meadows
Today was spent preparing for the longest planned section of the hike without resupply through some of the most desolate and beautiful regions of the country. I have double checked my supplies and am prepared to make the 90 plus miles to Kearsarge Pass where i will head to either Bishop or Independence to resupply before heading back into the Sierras. Kennedy Meadows was a great place to relax and get ready for the next leg of the trip. The store itself has been run by the same family for over 20 years and they do a great job of providing all the necessities a hiker needs,
Blake's PCT Adventure
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862) "Walden"
The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is a 2,650-mile national scenic trail that runs from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington. The PCT traverses 24 national forests, 37 wilderness areas and 7 national parks. The PCT passes through 6 out of 7 of North Americas ecozones.
