Only cattle and idiots stand in the rain.
I told myself if the weather forecast was for more of the same for an extended period I was leaving the trail. When I reached the top of the ski resort at Stevens I checked the weather. Rain for at least the next 7 days and a flash flood watch for today.
Done.
I walked into the cafe at the ski resort to get info on getting into town. The cashier offered me a ride all the way to Monroe when he got off work. Thanks dude!!!
It poured rain the whole 2 hours I was at the resort.
I checked into the Best Western in Monroe and made arrangements to get back home to Crescent City. I should be home Wednesday evening.
Getting to the border was never my motivation as that is the lamest reason to do this sort of thing. My motivation was gathering data on the entire trail. I have over 7000 audio notes on water sources, trail junctions, camp sites, etc, as well as a detailed GPS track to Stevens Pass, that's all but 170 miles. I've got more than I need for the next step.
I'll have more thoughts later...
