Almost!
Two days to go!!! We leave on Friday. This week has gone by so fast. Brett and I both had our last days of work last Friday. Saturday, Brett's family was amazing and threw a going-away party. Tons of people were there. Sharing stories and dreams. It was awesome. Then the last few days have been a blur of people to see, doctor's appointments, last-minute things to get, changing cell phone plan, returning stuff, REI, food buying, blog setup, every little thing bouncing in my head. It's funny, the things pushed back till the last day...packing, reorganizing maps into ziplocs, and passport photos. Sounds terrible, doesn't it? These things are important! But we've actually already done a week out there and know our gear by now. And my family is going to drive the passports up to us near the border. Today, I have a few more cuben stuff sacks to make, music to download, plans to finalize, and blog/internet stuff to figure out. I guess I expected everything to feel ceremonious. Our last walk with our dogs. Our last trip to REI after all of these months. The last time going out with friends or family. For five months! But it just seems like always. I can't tell if I'm nervous, but my body has been strange. Butterflies. And my mind is silent. Maybe it's too much for my little brain to process? Sounds dramatic, but I really don't know what to expect. This is 5 BIG months! The longest we've spent travelling was 3 months and that seemed like an eternity. But I just continue to go through the motions and quietly get everything done because, ready or not, the adventure starts the day after tomorrow.
