Pre-Trip
This years PCT Section Hike will be from Wrightwood, CA to Tehachapi, Ca. The plan is set, the gear ready, and the logistics are more or less settled. Time to WALK!!
A little history:
I discovered the PCT in 2002, and by 2004, my goal was to thru-hike it. In 2009, I began planning for a 2014 Thru-hike. 2014 eventually came, and life was too hectic to make a 4 month thru-hike possible. Instead, I thru-hiked the Tahoe Rim Trail, which was a fantastic experience (my journal for the TRT is here on Postholer). Next, in 2015, I thru-hiked the JMT (my journal for the JMT is also here on Postholer). This experience was truly AMAZING! After completing the JMT, I decided to turn my attention to section hiking the PCT. I work a 9-5 kinda job so my section hikes have to fit into a typical 2 week vacation, about 150 to 200 miles. This year I had planned to do the Border Section from Campo to Anza, but I did not realize that a new permit/quota system is in place for PCT starts at the Mexican Border. Therefore, I decided to hike from Wrightwood to Tehachapi.
Thus far, I've hiked about 450 miles of the PCT including:
*Highway 74 (near Anza) to Highway 2 (near Wrightwood) - 215 miles
*Cottonwood Pass (near Horseshoe Meadows) to Tuolumne Meadows - 198 Miles
*Echo Lake Resort (near South Lake Tahoe) to TRT/PCT Junction (near Tahoe City) - 37.5 Miles
Blessings, Tim
